Have you noticed a slightly new look to Hedingham.org? Well, it being spring and all, we decided the website could use a good Spring Cleaning.

But rest assured, the changes were not all superficial. Sure we’ve added a little color to the main articles, and changed the format of the Athletic Calendar to make it easier to read, but we’ve also added an array of RSS feeds—to make it easier to keep up with the entire site or just with certain groups—like the Hi-Milers or Swim Team.

Now, for those of you who aren’t so technically oriented, if all you want to do is visit the site and read what’s posted, you won’t have to change anything or learn anything new—just keep coming back whenever you want and read what’s going on.

RSS feeds are a way for you to keep up with updates to websites without having to visit the site as frequently—your own computer will go out and get the information for you.

About the team:

Hedingham Swim team is proud to be apart of TSA (Tarheel Swimming Association) North Carolina’s largest summer recreational youth swimming league! In 2007, Hedingham Swim Team’s 73 swimmers had a very fun and exciting season.

The team is looking forward to the 2008 season kicking off on Tuesday June 17^th for our first meet.

Tarheel Swimming Association the home of North Carolina’s largest summer recreational youth swim league! In 2007, almost 9,000 athletes swam for one of TSA’s 69 member teams. This summer, we expect even more swimmers and more teams!

2008 Swim Meets:

This year’s Tuesday night dual meets will be swum on June 17, June 24, July 1, July 8, July 15 and July 22.

Grants and Scholarships:

In July 2007, twenty TSA Swimmers were each awarded a $400 TSA Educational Grant. Congratulations to the winners!

Pool Professionals is once again generously offering a $1000 Partnership Scholarship to a TSA swimmer. See the application (MS Word format) for more details. Congratulations to Lauren of Southall for winning the 2007 Partnership Scholarship!

Clinic Opportunities for Swimmers:

Several of the local year-round swim clubs offer spring "tune-up" clinics for summer swimmers. See MOR in May, RSA in May and New Wave Spring Clinics for details. This year, MOR is also offering something new: a Winter Swim League starting in January.

Take the beltline (I-440) to Glenwood Ave (US 70). Go past the Crabtree Valley Mall area. Continue up the hill after passing Circuit City. Turn left at the first traffic light. The pool is located at the bottom of the hill on the left.

TCC’s pool is not operational this year. The meet will be at our pool with Hedingham Sharks being the Visiting Team.

2008 Practice Schedule:

The first practice will be Tuesday, May 27th the day after Memorial Day: Practices there after will be Monday thru Thursday. Meets, except for the City Meet, are on Tuesdays. If a meet is canceled - the makeup meet is on Wednesday. Please do not judge the weather yourself, please show up with your swimmer ready to swim. Weather changes very quickly in the summer.

11 and up will practice from 4:30 to 5:30

7-10 year olds will practice from 5:30 to 6:30

6 and Under will practice from 6:30 to 7:30

Please no two piece bathing suits. Hair should be secure - either in a pony tail or swim cap. No dangle jewelry or gum.

Free Ice Cream!!!

Thanks to the efforts of Aimee Anderson, each child will be given a certificate for a free ice cream after each meet courtesy of Dairy Queen. We encourage all swimmers and parents to meet at the Dairy Queen on New Bern Ave. in the Food Lion Shopping center after each meet. Come and get to know your team mates outside of the pool!!!
